“Appointment of Gerhard Fercho as Atos Origin Chief Operations Officer in Germany”

Since September 20th 2004, Gerhard Fercho (51) has taken over the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Atos Origin, with responsibilities for the activities in Germany and in the Central European countries Austria, Switzerland and Poland.
As Chief Operations Officer, Mr Fercho's responsibility covers Managed Operations, Consulting, Systems Integration and Solutions business units in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland. In his position he will report to Dominique Illien, Atos Origin Management Board Member.
Since February 2002, Gerhard Fercho has been Managed Operations Director with responsibilities for outsourcing services at Atos Origin in Germany and Central Europe. Before joining the Group, he held management positions at leading German and US American companies.
Atos Origin objectives in Germany and Central Europe
Atos Origin plans to develop as a leader on this market, leveraging on strong relationship with European and national accounts in key sectors, such as Telecommunications, CPG-Retail, Manufacturing, Banking and Government, while delivering best of breed services in :
- Managed Operations, with strong infrastructure services,
- Application Management, with strong global methodologies,
- Systems Integration, with strong ERP and technology inputs
- Solutions, with strong EDI and SCM offerings.

On September 2nd 2004, Atos Origin announced the signing of a 8-year agreement under which its German subsidiary, Atos Origin GmbH, will take over the infrastructure Division of Itellium Systems and Services, IT subsidiary of KarstadtQuelle AG. The agreement comprises the Infrastructure Division of Itellium Systems and Services GmbH, which has responsibility for KarstadtQuelle's data processing centres, network operations, terminal device support and the application management group. Under the terms of the contract, ownership of the two main data processing centres in Essen and Nuremberg will transfer to Atos Origin. This long term outsourcing contract will take effect from October 1st 2004. Approximately 900 employees will transfer to Atos Origin.
