“Atos Origin coordinates a European project to develop a Trust and Contract Management framework”

Barcelona, July 29, 2004

TrustCoM project's budget amounts to 10.9 million Euro and is co-financed by the European Commission

A consortium of sixteen organizations (Research centres, Universities, Software companies and Systems Integrators), including the IT services leader Atos Origin, has started to develop TrustCoM project. Its objective is to develop a trust and contract management framework enabling secure collaborative business processing within secure, scalable, highly dynamic, integrated and targeted Virtual Organisations (VO 's).

These self-managed organisations, which are created on-demand, share services, resources, information and knowledge across enterprise boundaries in order to tackle the collaborative projects, that their participants could not undertake individually.

Such VO's will be based on new forms of collaboration, in which participants (enterprises or individuals) can specify and negotiate their own conditions of involvement by electronic contracts operations, which are controlled and enforced by a technical infrastructure. Such collaborations can be established only in a secure environment where the controls and procedures are automated and based on clear specifications of trust, risk and policy.

To that end, TrustCoM will conduct a multidisciplinary research into complex, adaptive and self-organising systems. Its objective is to deliver a new standard architecture for trust and contract management enabling collaborative work between on-demand created and self-managed dynamic networks of businesses and governments built on top of the emerging convergence of Web Services, agent and Grid technologies.

This project, with a budget amounting to near eleven million euro, is co-financed by the European Commission within the IST and VI Framework Programme. Atos Origin is in charge of the overall coordination of the project and of the development of some parts of the software.

TrustCoM consortium is a well-balanced group including research centres, universities, software companies and systems integrators. The 16 organizations within the consortium are: Atos Origin (Spain activity, systems integration); Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (United Kingdom); SAP (Germany); British Telecom.
