“Atos Origin launches its new preferred roaming solution for mobile operators”

The solution makes it easier to register roaming clients in the network desired by the operator

Atos Origin, a leading international information technology services company, announced today the launch of its Preferred Roaming telecommunications solution.

This solution provides the mobile operator with the necessary tools to get their roaming clients to register with the company partner of its choice, as long as that network covers the area in question and regardless of whether its base stations are the strongest broadcasters in that area.

The system was developed by the Atos Origin's Added Value Service Unit and based on the Roaming Services Centre. The Preferred Roaming and Roaming Broker functionalities have been added to the already established features of Welcome Roamer, Info Roamer (Information on Services in the country visited), use of the same numbers as those of the source network, speed dialling for corporate clients, dialling assistance, and many more. All of which have been integrated into the Roaming Services Centre.

The new solution includes the possibility to automatically pre-configuring the SIM card with information regarding the preferred network to be used for roaming when registering. Consequently, when the cell phone automatically searches the networks being visited, it takes into account the information stored in the SIM card. It also includes a feature that gets the client to register in the operator's preferred network in real time. For the consortia and the mobile operators that have agreements with them, this function is essential for maximising roaming revenues, as well as helping to capture new clients who give top priority to global services when choosing their mobile operator.
