“Atos Origin wins SAP Operations hosting at AKZO Nobel’s Intervet”
Utrecht, 12. March 2004
Today, Atos Origin and Intervet, a business unit of Akzo Nobel, have signed a five-year agreement for the hosting of operational services based on SAP. Last year, both parties already signed an agreement for the project implementation. Atos Origin has now been selected as full end-to-end partner of Intervet's ambitious ATLAS project - a global business initiative aiming to standardize business processes.
SAP R/3 will provide a new and 'future proof' core business system that will meet Intervet's global as well as local business requirements. The new platform is designed to meet strict requirements from bodies such as the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the hosting services are based on FDA/GxP regulations. Atos Origin is already the main IT partner for Akzo Nobel worldwide; ATLAS is the first major win within the Pharma Business Group. The ATLAS infrastructure will initially be rolled out in seven countries: the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, France, Spain and the United States.
Bryan Gathagan, Intervet's VP Finance USA, explains the choice for Atos Origin. "We count on Atos Origin to provide general guidance on putting in global systems across diverse countries. We are not in the business of implementing SAP, so we need the technical skills, expertise and management processes that Atos Origin can provide. Based on the successful start of the relationship and looking at their expertise, we are convinced that Atos Origin will also be the right partner for hosting our business critical applications worldwide."
Rolf Wildeman, Intervet's Manager International Purchasing adds: "We did not make the choice for Atos Origin lightly, but after careful consideration and evaluation of harder and softer business drivers. Now that the program has started, we are counting on Atos Origin's ongoing commitment to support us in reaching our goals with the ATLAS program and the fulfilment of the company's slogan: Turning client vision into results".
Karel Parre, Intervet's Global Program Director for the ATLAS Program, concludes: "Until now Atos Origin has shown a lot of commitment to make our program a success. We now also count on their ability to execute the hosting operations".
Samir El Awadi, Global Client Director Akzo Nobel Pharma at Atos Origin, comments: "We are very proud that Intervet has selected us as full end-to-end partner for the such an important business critical system. The agreement represents an important new phase in the long lasting relationship between Atos Origin and Akzo Nobel and the co-operation is a very valuable basis for further growth of our business in the pharmaceutical sector."
