“Atos Origin and Auchan Announce Successful Deployment of Remote Terminal Management System”

Atos Origin, a global provider of information services, and Auchan, one of the world's leading retailers, today announced the success of Atos Origin's outsourcing solution to provide Auchan with remote management services for a large component of its information system.

In early 2003, Auchan awarded Atos Origin a five-year contract to remotely manage its information systems and jointly launched a project to automate the process using the Tivoli suite. Today, 15 Atos Origin specialists perform remote 24X7 monitoring with guaranteed results on a proprietary multiservice platform. Auchan and Atos Origin co-managed the project, successfully integrating 8,000-plus Tivoli monitors and automating more than 80% of the manual procedures.

Said Samuel Hurtrel, operations manager at Auchan, "The information system in this project included an ES/9000 system and 1,200 AS/400, Unix and Windows NT servers across 118 French, Eastern European and Chinese hypermarkets, the central purchasing agency, the Auchan Direct online shopping portal and its logistics services. Our goals were to enhance and rationalize the management of our information system. That's why, in addition to the outsourcing project, we asked the solutions supplier to co-manage the automation process and guarantee the results. Our goals have been achieved: outsourcing and automation have reduced costs by more than 35%, and service quality has improved."
