“ETM: Innovative natural gas transportation services in Germany”
Stuttgart - February 9th, 2004
Atos Origin manufactures the IT system for ETM, a service provider for natural gas transportation and network access
The international information technology (IT) services company Atos Origin manufactures, supplies, installs and maintains the IT solution for the transportation management system of ETM GmbH Erdgas-Transport-Management. ETM is a joint subsidiary of Bayerngas GmbH, Gasversorgung Süddeutschland GmbH and Saar Ferngas AG. The Stuttgart-based company offers natural gas transportation services both within the networks of its partners and in upstream and downstream systems.
The completely web-based WEM platform (World Energy Market) of Atos Origin forms the core of the IT solution for the transportation management system. ETM customers merely require a web browser to submit their transportation and storage queries. Edig@s messages are supported in the exchange of business data, allowing fast and efficient business processes. This means that the WEM platform can be flexibly adapted to new market requirements and general statutory conditions, as well as to the expansion of business activities.
The extensive range of services and the variety of processes to be covered demand high requirements of the IT solution. This is particularly true of the uniform automation and linking of the different business processes, from the handling of complex transportation and storage queries, forecasts, route planning and processing of contracts through to the compilation and checking of invoices.
"We opted for a collaboration with Atos Origin, as the company has become one of the leading and most innovative IT service providers in the energy sector following its acquisition of SchlumbergerSema" says Ulf Brenscheidt, Managing Director of ETM GmbH. He continues: "By using the WEM platform, we are paving the way for a successful future in a liberalised gas market. The solution of Atos Origin stands out with its flexibility, speed and user-friendliness - the key criteria for modern natural gas logistics".
Atos Origin is also breaking new ground with this project, as Carlos Pereira-Borgmeyer, Sales Manager of the Process Industry, Utilities und Life Science (PULS) sector at Atos Origin GmbH, also confirms: "With the project for ETM, Atos Origin is strengthening its position as an innovative IT service provider in a liberalised gas market. We will assiduously convert new market requirements into efficient solutions for our customers."
In addition, Atos Origin supports the involvement of natural gas dealers, shippers and network operators in the system by means of special service offers, to facilitate seamless integration into the systems used for gas planning, portfolio and risk management, forecasts and invoicing.
