“Atos Origin wins CRM project with European leading Internet Daily Newspaper”

Vienna, July 12, 2004

With the project for “derstandard.at“, Atos Origin is providing a CRM solution for publishing houses for the first time in Austria

Within just four months, Atos Origin has provided a Microsoft CRM solution for derstandard.at, one of the leading European on-line daily paper. With the standard German-language edition, Microsoft CRM 1.2, derstandard.at provides a fully mature, state-of-the-art solution. For the first time in Austria, Atos Origin is launching a CRM solution for the publishing sector.

derstandard.at from Bronner Online AG was founded in 1995 as the first, German-language Internet newspaper. Today, the company with head office in Vienna, has a 60-strong workforce and is Austria's first profitable on-line medium. derstandard.at has a monthly readership of around 720,000.

Atos Origin's project management expertise was one of the crucial factors when it came to working with Atos Origin as far as Mathias Stöcher, Managing Director of derstandard.at was concerned: “The company's honest and open approach convinced us. The team kept its promises. Users didn't have to get used to another system in order to use the Microsoft solution because data entry in the CRM system is very similar to the standard Outlook surface. “

“Another positive point is the fact that Atos Origin was prepared to work with us up to the 3.0 Version in the Release Plan“, added Board member Mag. Alexander Mitter äcker.

A CRM solution was introduced with derstandard.at in order to facilitate complex dealings between customers – agencies and companies – using an electronic approach. “We want to be more successful in terms of sales procedures and create a central data archive with interfaces to the key systems such as the processing of orders, finances or archiving“, explained Mathias St öcher and Mag. Alexander Mitteräcker unanimously.

CRM challenge
The sales department of a publishing house is confronted with the problem that a typical customer, e.g. an advertising agency, has several customers in its own right, for which they order advertisements. At the same time, other publishing customers – in this case, companies – often approach more than one agency. These dealings must be transparent and accessible to the sales department so as to ensure that all members of staff know who makes the decision in each individual case and to check that they are in contact with the right person.

"With the launch of CRM, derstandard.at would like to make different types of information from various sources available to individual customers in order to guarantee a central data reserve for sales activities. The aim is to cut costs and effectively manage the sales process. Only in this way can sales activities be planned and carried out more efficiently and time-effectively", states Project Manager, Bernd Hartlieb, from Atos Origin.
The data to be collated from five or six different sources of information include contact data, company or agency information, inspection reports and developing projects, etc.

Until the CRM solution became available, derstandard.at used a sales system for the technical processing of advertising orders. However, the information relating to the client or interested party was stored in various locations such as in the Outlook programmes used by the individual sales staff. Marketing measures such as sales mail shots were carried out “manually", thus making it difficult to have targeted dealings with a customer during the acquisition phase.

In future, new information relating to individual customers and projects will be entered in the CRM surface by members of the sales team and will then be available to all participants.

Bernd Hartlieb from Atos Origin is delighted with this collaboration: "Technical professionals are involved in derstandard.at. It's great fun to work with a team that can pinpoint what's important. We are looking forward to working together on future projects".
