“Approval of the acquisition of Atos Origin’s document and check processing activities by Experian”
Paris - September 18, 2003
Following the issue of a clearance notice by the "Conseil de la Concurrence", the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry has approved the acquisition by Experian of 100% of Atos Origin's document management and cheque processing activities.
As announced on January 15th 2003, Experian will acquire Atos Origin DMS, a subsidiary of Atos Origin Services which specializes in two activities that are core to Experian's strategy in the Business Process Outsourcing market namely, document processing (remittance, reminders, orders, subscription management) and cheque processing. Atos Origin and Experian have also entered into a commercial agreement under which Experian will subcontract to Atos Origin the data processing work for these two activities only, to ensure business continuity.
Atos Origin DMS, which operates 18 sites in France and employs around 1,000 people, will become Experian DMS, a subsidiary of Experian SAS. In 2002, the company processed more than one billion documents and its turnover currently amounts to approximately € 60 million per annum.
"This acquisition is a natural move to follow the development of the market and is very important to Experian. By giving its approving, the Ministry acknowledges this acquisition supports the development of the market in France " explained Ludovic Denis, Regional director at Experian. "We are confident that, together with the teams of Atos Origin DMS who we are warmly welcoming, we will build together an efficient, reliable and long lasting industrial capability that will help our clients strengthen their customer relation management".
"We strongly believe that Experian will provide our clients with services based on quality, integrity and continuous technological innovation - values that both companies share. This transaction largely completes the portfolio rationalization plan that we announced at the time of merging Atos and Origin" said Bernard Bourigeaud, Chief Executive of Atos Origin.
