“Atos Origin Becomes Promoter Member of the VoiceXML Forum”

Atos Origin, a leading builder and operator of interactive voice service systems, has confirmed and intensified its support for VoiceXML by becoming a Promoter Member of the VoiceXML Forum.
VoiceXML, an offshoot of HTML derived from XML, now represents the benchmark open standard for implementing interactive voice applications. By transposing to voice systems the principles that made the World Wide Web successful, VoiceXML simplifies the design of interactive voice applications and facilitates implementation of advanced speech synthesis and recognition techniques.
More than 20 years' experience in building and operating interactive voice service systems has positioned Atos Origin as a market leader recognized for its expertise in such advanced technologies as speech recognition and synthesis, Voice over IP and interactive voice response (IVR) servers.
Previously a Supporter Member of the VoiceXML Forum, Atos Origin has confirmed and intensified its commitment to the deployment of new open standards by becoming a Promoter Member of the Voice XML Forum. Atos Origin will share with the Forum its experience in building and operating interactive voice service systems ; and will actively support the VoiceXML standard developments with the objective of making its shared voice hosting platform evolve towards VoiceXML.

Founded by AT&T, IBM, Lucent Technologies and Motorola, the VoiceXML Forum (http://www.voicexml.org) is an industry organization that currently includes nearly 600 members, of which 33 Promoter Members. After releasing version 1.0 of the VoiceXML standard specification in March 2000, it is now preparing version 2.0 and conducting programs to promote the standard and educate industry players, as well as providing implementation conformance testing services.
