“SFR Chooses QualiMucho and Atos Origin for Innovative Postcard Mailing Service”
Paris, December 04, 2003
As part of its Vodafone Live! offer, SFR has introduced MMS Carte Postale, an innovative mobile phone-based service, and has chosen QualiMucho Media technology, integrated and hosted by Atos Origin. The service enables mobile users to transform a digital photograph taken with their phone into a real postcard and to mail it to the person of their choice.
On October 29, SFR introduced its Vodafone Live! offer in France. The European benchmark in multimedia messaging services (MMS), Vodafone Live! includes a full range of innovative, exclusive services that are easy to use and attractively priced, especially for young people. They are compliant with camera-equipped handsets.
As part of the offer, SFR is also launching MMS Carte Postale, an innovative postcard service that allows mobile users, in just a few clicks, to transform a digital photo taken with their phone into a postcard with a message. The postcard is then mailed via La Poste, France's postal service, to the person of their choice.
A turnkey solution
QualiMucho Media's MMS Carte Postale application leverages this year's hottest mobile phone feature-an integrated camera. The easy-to-use solution retrieves the photo, the recipient's address and the message and creates a real postcard printed on front and back. The system offers logistical support for each postcard sent, confirming order reception with an SMS and tracking production and delivery of the postcard.
Integrating and hosting the entire solution
SFR once again decided to work with Atos Origin, which will integrate and host the MMS Carte Postale service on its multimedia platform. To deploy the application, Atos Origin has integrated the solution developed by its partner QualiMucho and chosen by SFR. The user takes the picture and sends it, along with the recipient's address and a message, via MMS to firstname.lastname@example.org. Atos Origin then processes and transforms the data for printing. The addressee receives the card two working days later.
Atos Origin also provides the interface with SFR's invoicing system. The cost of sending the post card is either included in the user's telephone bill or deducted from a prepaid account.
