“Alstom Transport Chooses Atos Origin to Integrate and Manage Its Outsourced Enterprise Content Management Solution”

Atos Origin has been chosen by Alstom Transport to develop, integrate and manage an outsourced Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution that will provide over 600 experts at 40 specialized centers around the world with a powerful document management and collaborative work system. The new solution is designed to enhance productivity by improving the sharing, distribution and capitalization of information and expertise.
Alstom's transport division previously had a variety of local document systems that did not provide experts in the different competence centers with a common work area for accessing data, sharing experience and collaborating on projects. E-mail was the only means for sharing information.
Alstom chose Atos Origin because of its recognized ECM consulting and implementation expertise, as well as for its ability to support the change process and provide end-user training. The selection was also based on Atos Origin's proficiency with Documentum products.
To date, Atos Origin has installed a Documentum 4i I-Team collaborative and content management solution at approximately 30 specialized centers.
For the Alstom intranet, Atos Origin has also developed a document interface dedicated to distributing information from experts and accessible to all employees.
The ECM solution is managed by Atos Origin as part of an outsourcing contract signed with Alstom.
Atos Origin's ECM solution enables experts to:
- Benefit from a common document base accessible worldwide.
- Set up collaborative work areas for organizations, projects and groups.
- Access data quickly and easily.
- Define the level of distribution of expert documents to other competence centers or other employees.
Atos Origin's service package was delivered in several phases:
- Consulting (defining Alstom's needs / functional specifications).
- Integration of the Documentum 4i I-Team solution.
- Development of a document interface on the Alstom intranet.
- Change management, providing training for more than 100 experts.
- Document administration.
- Outsourced system management.
The Java J2EE Documentum 4i I-Team application is built on an Oracle database and a J-Run application server. The document interface was developed in Java and runs on an IBM Websphere application server.
