“Club Dial Picks Atos Origin to Host its E-Commerce Platform”

Paris - April 29, 2003

Atos Origin is one of the few French web hosting providers to deploy Blue Martini technology

France's CD, DVD and video catalog retailer Club Dial (Universal Music) has selected Atos Origin to host its e-commerce platform: www.musicandfilm.fr . Atos Origin provides the website with specialized hosting services from a multimedia platform using Blue Martini applications. It is one of France's few web hosting providers to deploy this technology.

The new website www.musicandfilm.fr sells more than 15,000 CD, DVD and video titles online to subscribers and club members.

Club Dial's main criteria in launching the site were fast implementation and online deployment, as well as availability and performance of the service to meet customer demand. For these reasons, the company opted for a solution using Blue Martini software with hosting in a specialized environment on Atos Origin's multimedia platform.

Rare expertise in hosting and running Blue Martini applications

To support the software selected by Club Dial, Atos Origin integrated expertise in hosting and running applications developed using Blue Martini. Acquiring these skills involved such measures as extensive real-load testing of the specialized hosting environment to ensure that thousands of visitors could be accommodated on line at the same time.

At Club Dial's request, Atos Origin also emphasized the sizing and scalability of the systems architecture, as well as its logical and physical security. The required security was ensured by load distribution mechanisms and hardware redundancy for the front-end and application servers.

Reasons for Club Dial's choice

Atos Origin has been working with Dial since the early 1990s to deploy solutions for credit card ordering, secure payment and the printing of reimbursement checks. This collaboration intensified in 1998 with the launch of the first clubdial.fr site, followed by introduction of a redesigned version in December 1999.

As a traditional partner fully satisfied with services received in the past, Club Dial naturally asked Atos Origin to host its new e-commerce platform using Blue Martini technology.

"For our new e-commerce platform, we wanted a partner who could provide us with extensive hosting capacity and effective maintenance for this innovative software solution little known till now in France. We've always been satisfied with the responsiveness and flexibility of Atos Origin's teams and the quality of their personalized service," said Michel Bincaz, head of Club Dial's Information Technology Department.

The musicandfilm.fr site currently accommodates more than 15,000 unique visitors a day and has more than 400,000 on-line and off-line members.

Atos Origin also hosts and operates Club Dial's interactive voice response and Minitel services for the Universal Group.
