“Redcats sets up a joint venture with Atos Origin to establish a European information systems platform”
Paris, France - March 25, 2003
As part of the drive to use Group resources more efficiently, Redcats has decided to consolidate all European central information systems operations to a single site. The site will be managed by a joint venture set up with Atos Origin.
The aim is to:
- simplify our infrastructure costs (licenses, hardware, operations staff),
- enhance service quality and reliability,
- pool the expertise of the IT teams in the various Group divisions.
The new platform should lead to significant cost savings.
The preliminary feasibility study was conducted by the IT Directors of the divisions concerned. Several potential partners were then contacted and asked to submit proposals. The joint venture will take the form of a joint subsidiary between Redcats and Atos Origin. The IT staff concerned by the project - 43 in France, 13 in the UK and 3 in Sweden - will be transferred to the new subsidiary effective April 1st, 2003.
Thierry FALQUE-PIERROTIN, Chairman of the Redcats Management Board stated that "this agreement with Atos Origin for the creation of a European information systems platform will place our IT operations in a highly secure environment. The agreement extends from the supply of data processing capacity to the administration and management of our central systems. The resulting efficiency gains will free up additional resources for our programs to boost sales."
Bernard BOURIGEAUD, Chairman of Atos Origin considers that "this partnership allows each party to contribute its specific expertise to the joint venture. Redcats is an expert in retailing, while Atos Origin's skills lie in IT outsourcing operations by introducing a higher level of automation. This partnership confirms Atos Origin's ability to integrate multi-cultural teams and strengthens its geographical position in the North of France."
