“Beta Systems’ Beta 88 Replaces Consul RACF at Atos Origin”

Berlin, Germany -- January 28, 2003

> Outsourcing Provider Atos Origin to Manage RACF Systems with Beta 88 zSecurity

> Market Leader Beta Systems Guarantees Further Development, Plus Customer-Oriented Service and Pricing Policies

Atos Origin Nederland, based in Utrecht and one of Europe's largest European IT service providers, will centrally manage, monitor and audit the RACF security systems of 27 IBM mainframes with IT security products from Beta Systems Software AG, headquartered in Berlin. The German software vendor's "Beta 88 zSecurity Administrator" and "Beta 88 zSecurity Auditor" modules will replace solution provider CONSUL's CONSUL RACF, hitherto deployed at Atos Origin.

Beta Systems modules enable system administrators to manage users in centralized or remote environments, and quickly and cost efficiently monitor enforcement of corporate security policies.

"Centralizing and harmonizing how we establish user privileges for all our mainframes, our de-ployment of Beta 88 will significantly improve the security of our customers' systems regarding un-authorized access," said Mathé Blom, Manager Operating Systems at Atos Origin. "Since we want to continue to offer our customers superior IT services and support at a reasonable price, we de-pend on the customeroriented service and pricing policy of the provider." Explaining why Atos chose to switch providers, Mr. Blom added: "It is especially in this regard that we view our coop-eration with Beta Systems as a key advantage."

Beta Systems is currently Germany's market leader for software solutions to manage and monitor IBM RACF security systems. Beta Systems aims to grow its market position in Europe by the top-notch quality of its solutions. Beta Systems offers its customers a transparent and attractive prod-uct and service portfolio.

"In the future we expect to grow our customer base with IT providers such as Atos Origin. Particu-larly in the mainframe arena, some providers are putting customers in a bind by either scaling back their support or driving up the price," said David Ferré, Director of the Data Center Manage-ment Business Unit at Beta Systems. "Beta Systems offers its customers cutting edge develop-ment of their solutions, plus reliable support."

Beta 88 zSecurity Administrator
Provides a comprehensive overview of information contained in RACF. It provides user-friendly functionality for central-ized RACF administration such as submitting batch jobs online to generate RACF commands or commands for RACF profile maintenance.

Beta 88 zSecurity Helpdesk
Enables standard administration tasks such as resetting user passwords or linking users with groups - remotely in busi-ness departments or by means of helpdesks. Because centralized staff no longer needs to transfer and process infor-mation, this solution saves time.

Beta 88 zSecurity Auditor
Enables easy, secure, timely and comprehensive audits by delivering RACF, SMF and environment data, plus respec-tive reports. Security gaps can thus be detected.

Beta 89 zSecurity Monitor
With RACF activities monitored by the SMF exit routine, which automatically escalates any security-relevant events, this product ensures z/OS security monitoring in real-time. Deployment of this module automates the process of manually evaluating SMF datasets, rendering this hitherto very costly process obsolete.
