The Atos Origin Card Management System gives a complete
overview of all customers' products and cards

Atos Origin, the IT and e-business services provider, presents its Worldline Pay CMS (Card Management System) to all card issuers - a new product for administering and personalising chip, multi-application and magnetic stripe cards. Using Worldline Pay CMS, card issuers can load various payment functions (credit, debit and prepaid), security applications (HBCI and digital signature), bonus functions and other supplementary functions onto their cards. In particular, the increasing spread of multi-application cards with supplementary applications, and the introduction of the new security standards by Europay, Mastercard and Visa (EMV), compulsory from 2005, need a new kind of card administration system that is especially equipped for the new requirements of chip card technology.

"The decisive advantage of Worldline Pay CMS for the card issuer is that it can be used to administer all types of cards, from the magnetic stripe through to the newer chip technology. As a result, the issuers have a complete overview of all the products and cards for each individual customer using just one single card management system..", explains Reiner Wergen, Product Marketing Manager for Worldline Pay at Atos Origin.

The variety of the supplementary applications on the chip card is unlimited: in Germany parking tickets, electronic travel tickets, City Cards with electronic ticketing for cultural and leisure activities and access rights are all currently popular. Using Worldline Pay CMS, the card issuer administers customers and cards and undertakes the task of loading, deleting of amending applications on the chip card. In this way, products tailored to the individual requirements of the customer can be already loaded on the card at the time of issuance. It is also possible to load other supplementary application, e.g. a credit card or private label card with bonus functions, onto the multi-application chip card at a later date, at a bank counter or POS using a web browser.

Sparkasse Bremen is the first to implement Worldline Pay CMS

The Sparkasse Bremen is the first customer to implement Worldline Pay CMS by Atos Origin. In Autumn 2002 around 300,000 new debit cards with the GeldKarte function will be issued within the context of regular card replacement/application. From the time these cards are issued they will be administered for all the required business processes using Worldline Pay CMS, e.g. card application, blocking, releasing. For the Sparkasse Bremen this is the first step into a future where new business models are opening up as a result of multi-application cards with supplementary applications such as customer loyalty and the digital signature. Already in Bremen, the electronic travel ticket has been introduced, whereby the travel ticket for the bus and the tram is stored on the chip. Worldline Pay CMS has been realised on the Atos Origin eBusiness Platform, on which the Sparkasse Bremen has implemented its multi-channel strategy since 2000.

Worldline Pay CMS is a further building block run on the Atos Origin eBusiness Platform and with the Worldline Pay products for HBCI, PIN/TAN banking, authorisation, card fraud prevention, eBilling (EBPP) and Internet Payment, it completes the comprehensive offer from Atos Origin for banks and card issuers. The eBusiness Platform enables fast, hardware-independent integration into existing system architectures, provides high investment security and minimises the cost of operating and maintenance.
