“Atos Origin to take over KPN’s Softwarehouse Services”

PARIS/AMSTERDAM, 23 MAY 2002

Atos Origin, a leading European IT services provider, has announced today that it has signed a letter of intent under which it will take over KPN's SoftwareHouse Services. As part of this long-term agreement, about 600 employees of KPN will join Atos Origin's Consultancy & System Integration operations in the Netherlands. The transfer is awaiting regulatory approval from the relevant authorities in the Netherlands and further details will be announced at the time of completion.

As a result of this deal Atos Origin will further strengthen its leadership position in Telco Software Services in the Netherlands and more broadly in Europe. The agreement will also extend the strategic alliance between Atos Origin and KPN. In October 2001, Atos Origin took over KPN's Datacenter operations and last week both parties completed a definitive agreement under which Atos Origin will manage KPN's End User Services.

Background

KPN SoftwareHouse was formed in 1999 with the objective of providing a flexible and cost-effective software development and application management service for all KPN organizations in the Netherlands. These services range from consultancy to systems integration, application development and implementation, maintenance management, functional maintenance, as well as solutions to improve business processes within KPN.
