“Atos Origin and KPNQwest Sign Strategic Agreement Leveraging Open Text Technology”

Delivering Web-based Collaborative Knowledge Management service internationally

KPNQwest, a leading pan-European Internet and data communications company, Atos Origin, a leading e-business services provider, and Open Text™ Corporation, leading provider of collaborative intranet, extranet and e-business applications, will enter into a strategic agreement. With this agreement, the three parties increase their share in the Application Service Provider (ASP) market.

The bundled offer, IntranetHotel, allows the business-to-business market to fully benefit from collaborative working, knowledge management and information exchange over the Internet. According to IDC worldwide spending on e-Knowledge Management services is expected to grow to more than $6 billion by 2004.

The IntranetHotel exists of a virtual environment, based on the Open Text product Livelink®, enabled through internet connectivity and a standard web-browser. This enables customers to benefit from the service while minimizing up-front investment in software, hardware and systems integration. *The IntranetHotel is an existing part of the elaborate Collaborative Knowledge Management (CKM) portfolio of Atos Origin eBusiness Solutions. The CKM portfolio consists of eTools and services to build successful business communities for the Atos Origin customers. This is realised with several internal (Atos Origin Managed Services) and external parties. With this announced partnership Atos Origin will strengthen and accelerate the IntranetHotel ASP offering. The existing customers will be transferred to KPNQwest as Application Infrastructure Provider.

KPNQwest will leverage its wholly owned EuroRings™ fibre-optic network and hosting infrastructure and services to deliver a highly practical and scalable CKM solution to the business-to-business market across Europe. The solution will be managed and hosted in KPNQwest CyberCentres and supported by the highest Service Level Agreements (SLA) in the industry.

"For KPNQwest, this agreement is a major step in advancing the AIP initiative across Europe", said Rhett Williams, Chief Marketing Officer for KPNQwest. "This offers tangible cost and efficiency benefits to Atos Origin's customers."

"Within this valuable partnership we are able to focus on our added value in developing, integrating and deploying highly scalable and robust ASP solutions for our customers across Europe", said Bram Meijer, Product Manager IntranetHotel at Atos Origin.

"Atos Origin has consistently used its domain expertise and technical know-how to deliver innovative applications using Livelink," said Bill Forquer, Vice president of Open Text's ASP Partner Program. "By leveraging KPNQwest's robust network infrastructure and existing ASP partnership with Open Text, the Atos Origin collaborative solutions can be marketed to supply chains, partner networks, customer networks, and other forms of e-Communities."
