“Atos Announces New Version of Vigile SCADA Software and a Partnership Agreement with USDATA”
PARIS, FRANCE - April 3, 2000
Atos, a leading European IT services provider, said today that it has signed a partnership agreement with USDATA, which will enable the recently introduced version 7 of its Vigile SCADA software to become, in conjunction with USDATA's Xfactory® program, a powerful manufacturing execution system (MES).
For the past fifteen years, Atos has developed and delivered a wide range of integration services for CIM, process management and other industrial technology systems. As part of this offer, Vigile is a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) program whose standard features include a full array of supervisory functions using a generic object-oriented approach.
The latest version, Vigile v.7, features integrated object modeling, including tracking databases and integrated graphic objects. It provides integrators and users with a powerful business application generator based on objects organized by classes, with each class describing the object's static properties (attributes and relations) and dynamic behavior (methods). To build the application model, the generator assembles the integrated basic classes, customizes them, or creates new ones.
Version 7 has been enhanced with the following functionalities:
- Ability to use an Internet browser as the operator interface.
- More sophisticated reporting tools, such as alarm reports, data avalanche management, and hierarchical organization of graphic objects.
- Analysis tools that provide access to data via multi-criteria searches.
- Compatibility with market standards (SQL, ODBC, SNMP, OPC, etc.).
- An administration mode that integrates modeling, configuration and deployment of Vigile applications.
The largest Vigile-supervised facility at the Sollac Fos/Mer site represents roughly 500,000 variables. The new version is scalable to 128 servers, several thousand operator stations and, in theory, an unlimited number of variables.
Vigile v.7 runs on Windows NT, Unix and Open VMS.
Atos and USDATA, a global supplier of industrial automation software, have signed a partnership agreement that will create extensive technological and functional synergy in the area of product traceability. When coupled with USDATA's Xfactory® program, Vigile v.7 becomes a powerful manufacturing execution system (MES), capable of running installations in real time and generating the data needed to optimize production. The new offer confirms Atos' strategic commitment to making its clients more efficient.
