“Atos Introduces Dir@Web, a New, High Value-Added Software Tool Compatible with Other Currently Available Business Directories”

PARIS, FRANCE - March 23, 2000

Atos, a leading French and European online services provider, has introduced Dir@Web, a new product for accessing business directories via intranet and extranet networks. Compatible with other currently available business directories, Dir@Web optimizes management and distribution of directory data, while making it easier for companies to manage security across their entire information system.

Electronic commerce has become a strategic asset in today's business world, and companies are restructuring their information systems to extend access to employees, customers, partners and suppliers. At the same time, they are confronted with the problem of managing intranet and extranet security and communication flows. As a key component of a company's information system, the business directory requires powerful management tools that effectively manage and distribute the information it contains.

Atos is helping companies implement their strategic vision with Dir@Web, a product for distributing and managing directory data that features advanced consultation and data management functions.

Enhanced security features

Dir@Web manages conditional access to directory data and delegates management of all or part of those data throughout the company. It also enhances Single Sign On security functions (based on the LDAP directory) by managing access to other company applications.

Ergonomics and optimized solutions

With all directory consultation and management interfaces presented as a web page, Dir@Web is a flexible, user-friendly tool that can be easily configured to integrate industry-specific features or to allow the company to project a particular corporate identity. This intuitive approach makes Dir@Web accessible to users, who recognize at a glance their own corporate identity, language or organization.

An easy-to-use product

Once integrated into the information system, Dir@Web is easy to use, thanks to its ergonomics, flexibility and reasoning base. No special training or technical skills are required, either for directory managers or for users, who, if the company desires, can manage personal data/information themselves. Dir@Web frees companies to manage their directories themselves, as they wish

Comprehensive, practical functions

Dir@Web adds real value to a company's directory service through a wide range of functions that meet the day-to-day requirements of users and managers. They can conduct multi-criteria searches, browse via hypertext links, view data through various hierarchical displays (e.g., by organization, topology or business), send e-mail and enter new addresses, create an Excel file from selected data, print out a copy of the directory, and modify some or all data.
Dir@Web enables any client terminal equipped with a browser to access any type of directory using the LDAP Internet standard. It can be run on Windows NT, Solaris, HP-UX or AIX.

TDF (TéléDiffusion de France), a France Telecom subsidiary, and Société Générale have chosen Atos' Dir@Web to implement their enterprise directory. Technical solutions are based on the Sun/Netscape Alliance iPlanet directory.

Atos, a leading European information technology services provider, is dedicated to helping companies grow and develop faster through better use of new technologies. In particular, it is strategically focused on providing value-added solutions in electronic commerce, customer relationship management and supply chain management. The Group employs 11,000 people in 11 European countries and reported fiscal 1999 revenue of EUR 1,083 million, 33% of which was derived outside France.
