“Atos under the motto m-commerce at CeBIT 2000”
Paris, FRANCE - March 8, 2000
As more and more banks and telcos hook up in e-ventures, the convergence of the Internet and mobile phones is opening the way to the m-commerce of tomorrow. Atos offers comprehensive solutions for banks, payment service providers and mobile operators in the future-oriented mobile market
The IT service provider Atos is proud to present itself in the context of m-commerce and m-banking at this year's CeBIT. The specialist for payment systems is presenting its complete range of software and services for secure mobile payment transactions to banks, payment service providers and mobile operators.
The introduction of WAP compliant phones is opening new distribution channels as well as new ways of customer relationship management within the m-commerce environment to retailers, banks, payment service providers and mobile operators. Due to new partnerships with Motorola and Giesecke & Devrient, as well as with Sonera SmartTrust and IBM, Atos in its role as software provider for secure payment systems (POSEIDON) is able to provide the market with complete solutions for m-commerce.
Live demonstration at the CeBIT
Atos view secure smart card payment via mobile phone as the most important innovation within this context. At CeBIT 2000, this payment process was demonstrated live by the German mobile operator T-D1 as well as Multichart and the musical operator Stella in a simulation environment. The customer was able to purchase tickets for a musical from Stella's Internet Shop and pay by smart card via Motorola's dual slot mobile phone.
In order to swiftly turn vision into reality, Atos has upgraded its software for secure Internet payments, POSEIDON IPS (Internet Payment System), POSEIDON MP (Micro Payments) and SIPS to handle mobile transactions. This enables service providers and operators to offer innovative added value services around mobile payments within m-commerce.
The new co-operation with Sonera SmartTrust, specialists for mobile network security, is a further step to offering a complete range of solutions for secure transactions in mobile commerce within the German and European market.
Banks, payment service providers and mobile operators are calling for modern authorization systems in e- and m-commerce, which are able support the high transaction volumes arising from the increasing range of distribution channels.
Atos, a leading European information technology services provider, is dedicated to helping companies grow and develop faster through a better use of technology.
