Paris, February 4, 2000
Atos, the French and German market leader in secure Internet payment systems, today processes more than one-third of all secure transactions in Europe. The company's SIPS (Secure Internet Processing Services) and Poseidon IPS (Internet Payment System) solutions have been chosen by some 800 merchants and a large number of financial institutions.
Secure payment systems are critical to the development of e-commerce. Dell Computer, a pioneer in the Net economy, has chosen Atos systems for its online transactions in France, Italy and Spain. In all, more than 800 companies have opted for Atos solutions, including Décathlon, Nouvelles Frontières, La Redoute, SNCF and FNAC.
Atos' e-payment solutions have also been integrated in the services portfolios of a large number of French, German and UK banks, including Allcash, Banques Populaires (under the Cyberplus name), BNP, the German savings and loan associations, Citicorp, CMB and Crédit Mutuel's Fédéral Service consortium (as part of their Citelis service), Crédit Commercial de France (under the Elysnet name), Crédit Lyonnais, Credit du Nord (under the Webaffaires name), Cybercash, Easypay, Fiducia, B&S Card Service, Société Générale (under the Sogenactif name) and TeleCash.
Atos already processes more than 200,000 card transactions on the Internet per month, a number that is growing at a rate of nearly 500%. The main cards accepted are Visa, MasterCard, EuroCard, American Express, and JCB for international cards; France's Carte Bleue and the UK's Switch/Solo; and the Aurore and Finaref credit cards, accepted at La Redoute, FNAC and affiliated retailers.
Atos solutions include proven encryption technologies that comply with the various European regulatory systems. They combine the functions needed to acquire and manage secure Internet payment, and integrate the leading online payment technologies, including SSL certificates, Set and cyberCOMM solutions, and GSM smart-card readers.
The SIPS and Poseidon Internet Payment System solutions are offered as part of Atos' e-business services portfolio. E-business today represents more than 50% of the Group's revenue.
