Plan International – Harnessing talent to improve children’s lives
Plan International is one of the oldest and largest children’s development organisations in the world. Its aim is to improve the quality of life of children in developing countries, and help them realise their full potential. It focuses on long-term strategies, rather than on short-term needs, by building local community capacity to be self-sustaining.
This approach puts a premium on attracting, developing, rewarding, and managing large numbers of staff with a wide range of skills who are able to identify and tackle complex challenges affecting children worldwide. In crisis situations, such as disaster responses, it is essential that Plan knows where its staff are and what skills they have.
Now Plan has a powerful new platform for deploying its precious talent pool in remote regions of the world. Atos has implemented SAP SuccessFactors, providing Plan with a single HR system to co-ordinate its peoples skills efficiently and effectively with standardised global processes for things such as performance appraisals, compensation, learning, and resourcing tools all supported by user-friendly self-service in three languages.
The first phase of the project was delivered in only 12 weeks, surprising and delighting Plan’s Global CIO, Mark Banbury. The core solution uses an innovative hybrid cloud data model from Atos, so that field staff around the world can manage talent from anywhere, on any device. The project has won Plan International a SAP UK Quality Award, Silver in the Large Enterprise Category.
