Future Fit – What Atos is doing to equip our people in a Digital Society

Cheryl is a HR future thinker, with lots of energy, passion and opinions on HR and the future of work. She is experienced across the full spectrum of HR & across a variety of industries including IT, government, utilities and healthcare. As a strategic thinker, she is able to influence senior stakeholders to drive change and positively impact business performance. Cheryl is currently leading the agenda of transformation, HR analytics & automation, diversity & inclusion and employee engagement in the UK and Ireland.
Future Fit is Atos’ programme to reskill our people so they have the right skills and capabilities to meet the changing demands of current and future clients. Future Fit stems from our commitment to future-proof our people’s careers and support our employees through an unprecedented period of change by equipping them with the intelligence and abilities that aid growth in business.
Digital Growth Networks and ‘Find your Fit’
Through the Future Fit programme, we identified five areas of potential market growth, and designed five ‘Digital Growth Networks’ to support them. The networks aim to develop the skills and capabilities of our people within these growth areas. Our Digital Growth Networks focus on Cyber Security, A3I (Analytics, Automation and AI), Hybrid IT, Customer Experience, Digital Workplace and DevOps. To date 1,753 employees (almost 20% of our workforce in the UK&I) have joined at least one of the Digital Growth Networks.
In December 2019 we launched ‘Find your Fit’, a mechanism to support our people to start to plan and execute the acceleration of their digital skills development. It includes a short interactive video experience designed to provide greater insight into our Digital Growth Networks; the video identifies individual matching preferences following a series of questions as part of an online blended assessment.
A Talent Mobility Consultant is on hand to help navigate each Future Fit journey, which can include access to our internal Talent Mobility Platform and a Learning Platform to support skills development – enabling our people to ‘plug’ any skills gaps they have in their new chosen skill areas. Once ‘ready now’, our people join our ‘gig’ platform, where they can access projects and work opportunities that leverage their new skills.
First steps on a journey
By the end of 2020 we will have reskilled and moved into new skill areas over 1500 of our people through Future Fit since it started in 2017. We are also proud that over 80% of our hiring has been fulfilled internally over this period.
We are immensely proud of our Future Fit programme, what it has achieved and how our people have responded to it. We see the programme as a journey and look forward to seeing it further evolve and continue to support our people to develop their skills, enabling our business to deliver value for its clients.
