About this scheme
If you’re interested in leading the future of technology, there’s no better place to start than with one of our Software Development Apprenticeships. The level 3 apprenticeship running for 12-18 month and the level 4 apprenticeship running for 18-24 months. Each programme will combine classroom training with hands on experience, with modules designed to teach you both the technical and business skills you need to thrive in a long-term career as a software developer.
You’ll work on a diverse range of tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment, developing your knowledge of the digital sector and learning how to create world-class customer solutions. If you’re a methodical and creative problem solver, with the determination to take on real responsibility as you grow into the role, this scheme is for you.
What you’ll cover
All our Software Development apprentices are supported in achieving a Software Development Technician level 3 qualification or a Software Developer level 4 qualification dependent on the scheme, these are an equivalent to A levels / Scottish Highers. From there you’ll have the option to specialise with further certifications, which could see you improving your Java programming skills or learning the fundamentals of C#.
The programme will give you everything you need to take on a role as a fully-fledged software developer.
Qualifications you’ll achieve as part of your
Software Development Apprenticeship Level 3*:
- Software Development Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
- BCS Systems Development Essentials (England only)
- BCS Level 3 Certificate in Software Development Context and Methodologies
- BCS Level 3 Certificate in Programming
Software Development Apprenticeship Level 4*:
- Software Developer Level 4
- BCS Systems Development Essentials
- BCS Level 4 Diploma in Software Languages
*qualifications in Scotland may vary
Entry requirements Level 3:
For this scheme you’ll need 7 GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at grades 4-9 / A-C (including Maths and English), ideally including a qualification in ICT
Entry Requirements Level 4:
For this scheme you’ll need 6 GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at grades 4-9 / A-C (including English) plus GCSE in Maths grade 6-9 / B or above
PLUS one of the below:
Level 3 Software apprenticeship or A Level in a STEM subject or BTEC Diploma in IT
