About this scheme

Interested in leading the future of IT? There’s no better place to start than our level 3 Infrastructure Technology apprenticeship. With a focus on on-the-job training, supported by classroom learning and blended learning, the 12-18 month programme is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the most popular IT technologies.

You’ll do that by taking on a diverse range of challenges – all while earning industry recognised qualifications tailored to your talents and ambitions. If you’ve a genuine passion for IT and systems and an intellectually curious approach to work, we’ll teach you everything you’ll need to be become and authoritative technical professional.

What you’ll cover

Throughout the course, you’ll develop your understanding of the fundamentals of systems, networking and data analysis. That will include tuition on mobile, operating systems, cloud services, business, coding, networking and architecture. In addition to these technical skills, you can expect support on developing your business, communication, relationship building and creative problem solving expertise.

Note: in Scotland this same training scheme is called IT Systems & Networking, however all applications should be made to our Infrastructure Technology vacancy.

Qualifications you’ll achieve as part of your Infrastructure Technology / IT Systems and Networking apprenticeship*:

  • Advanced Apprenticeship Infrastructure Technician Level 3 or Scottish equivalent
  • MTA Networking Fundamentals
  • MTA Mobility and Devices Fundamentals
  • MTA Cloud Fundamentals
  • Your choice of a Microsoft MOC on-demand course
  • MCP and ICND certification (Scotland only)

*qualifications in Scotland may vary

Entry requirements

Our standard entry requirements apply: five GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at grades 4-9 / A-C (including Maths and English).

Datacentre Support Apprentice

This role offers you the opportunity to work in a technical environment, supporting IT systems for high-profile customers. You’ll develop the technical skills to monitor, operate and support our Data Centre IT systems and infrastructure. This will involve you managing issues through the full lifecycle, from logging and investigating faults, to hands-on work to rectify any issues. You’ll also manage direct requests from customers and support internal projects to undertake enhancements to systems and processes.

Birmingham

Datacentre Support Apprentice

This role offers you the opportunity to work in a technical environment, supporting IT systems for high-profile customers. You’ll develop the technical skills to monitor, operate and support our Data Centre IT systems and infrastructure. Network Administrator Apprentice

Here, we’ll look to you to support our lead engineers, auditing new networks against templated designs and functionality requirements. You’ll learn how to maintain and support our range of network infrastructures, helping to implement fixes and improvements to ensure our networks work efficiently. It’s a perfect platform to learn a wide variety of IT networking skills across a range of systems and technologies.

Service Continuity Analyst Apprentice

In this role, you’ll be part of the team that maintains technical procedures which allow the organisation and its customers to respond to disaster situations, ensuring the continuation of critical business functions; and implementing alternative operating strategies if necessary as part of a disaster response. Your communication skills will be as important as your diagnostic skills, working in this multi-disciplined environment across physical, hybrid and cloud systems, refining, evaluating and testing continuity plans.

Crewe

Technical Support Apprentice

Providing first line technical support to key clients, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of professional support analysts. You‘ll develop a range of technical skills, which you’ll learn to apply together with business knowledge to solve technical problems for end users and create simple, effective solutions. You will use effective communication skills to provide an efficient service to clients and will learn to adapt to a range of challenges in this busy team.

Livingston

Technical Support Apprentice

Providing first line technical support to key clients, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of professional support analysts. You‘ll develop a range of technical skills, which you’ll learn to apply together with business knowledge to solve technical problems for end users and create simple, effective solutions. You will use effective communication skills to provide an efficient service to clients and will learn to adapt to a range of challenges in this busy team.

Nottingham

Cloud Services Apprentice

As a Cloud Services Apprentice, you’ll be supporting a number of services responsible for maintaining security patches and you’ll be a point of contact for incidents, changes and service improvements within different markets. Working directly with our customers within the rail industry, you’ll be assessing and resolving technical systems issues, working with colleagues to identify root-causes behind problems, before developing, testing and implementing permanent solutions. You’ll help deliver business critical infrastructure both locally hosted and in the Public Cloud. It’s a growing area of the business, where you’ll develop experience across the infrastructure technology and support sector.

Support Analyst Apprentice

This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your technical knowledge in key tooling while delivering essential support and services to end users. You will learn to maintain our tooling at an optimum level, resolving any system issues, whilst continually looking to improve the efficiency of the tools and services being delivered to our customers.  You will build, manage and implement technical changes as part of the transformation journey towards new digital service delivery solutions expected by our customers today.

Runcorn

Middleware Apprentice

You’ll work with an experienced team providing technical support for managed ATM services across our client base. You’ll develop highly sought-after skills across a wide range of IT platforms and benefit from working in a large, dynamic organisation.  You’ll gain expertise in managing Middleware applications – performing health checks, patching and ensuring lifecycle compliance, as well as ensuring analysis and proactive responses to incidents, ensuring any technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Stevenage

Server Administration Apprentice

Here, you’ll learn valuable skills while providing day-to-day support for our clients’ servers and operating systems. With support from highly knowledgeable colleagues, you’ll manage complex infrastructures while providing technical support and maintenance. It’s a highly visible role, which will see you troubleshooting, streamlining and improving our capabilities by bringing new ideas to the table, right from the start.

Telford

Technical Analyst Apprentice

When you join our Enterprise Operations Centre, you’ll support us in managing our customers’ ICT services, ensuring we always provide a high-quality, agile and timely service. You’ll monitor systems, to identify and rectify faults, manage customer queries and any technical incidents that may arise. You’ll also work on the implementation of changes and enhancements to existing services. It’s a great place to learn new skills across multiple platforms and different IT skill areas, with plenty of opportunities to progress in your career.

Wolverhampton

Support Analyst Apprentice
