About this scheme

Our Business Administration Apprenticeship is your opportunity to gain the confidence and experience you need to get a real head start. Whether you’re interested in operations or customer service, this 12 – 18 month programme will develop you into a capable team member, with real skills and responsibilities to drive the rest of your career.

Throughout the course you’ll learn and use skills that will support you in a wide range of business and admin tasks. As you progress you’ll take on more responsibility, and by the time you’ve completed your apprenticeship you’ll be a trusted professional, ready to contribute to live projects and progress your career. If you like being well organised, analysing information and you have great communications skills, this programme is for you.

What you’ll cover

You’ll develop some of the most essential business skills around. From a technical perspective, your modules will cover the general principles of business, reporting and analysing data, and managing budgets, resources and change. Just as importantly though, you’ll receive plenty of support in improving your soft skills. That will include time planning and presenting at meetings, directly serving our customers and building relationships with people across the business.

We’ll give you everything you need to operate as a fully-fledged business professional.

Entry requirements

Our standard entry requirements apply: five GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at grades 4-9 / A-C (including Maths and English).

Sales Operations Apprentice

In this role you’ll get a solid foundation in critical sales support and bid management skills. You’ll be involved in creating full suite of effective dashboard within sales systems and you’ll get exposure to digital bidding platforms which will give you a good understanding of the latest technology trends in the sector. With a degree of autonomy and ownership of your own destiny within the company, you’ll have direct exposure to our senior Directors and you’ll get a broad insight into all elements of sales, sales support and digital bidding,


Project Office Assistant

In this complex and challenging role, you will be supporting our solutions and services for the whole UK Operational Rail Market. This will include managing requests from customers, improving internal working practices and helping with financial administration. The role gives you a lot of space for development as you will be rotating across both development and support teams, which will aid your learning and give you exposure to different areas of the business.

Data Management Apprentice

In this role, you’ll gain experience of working with mature business processes on varied, complex systems and you’ll develop your customer-facing skills. You will have a chance to work on varied, complex systems and excel in your attention to detail as you analyse requests from customers and enter accurate information into our database.

Business Analyst Apprentice

In this complex and challenging role, you will be supporting our solutions and services for the whole UK Operational Rail Market. Rotating in both development and support teams, you’ll be perfectly placed to learn how different teams in a large organisation operate and interact. You’ll be supporting various business critical services, assessing and developing solutions to meet business needs and you’ll be involved in the assessment of customer driven change requests and the implementation of business processes, risk and control procedures.

Software Asset & Configuration Apprentice

In this role, you will work closely with our software asset account managers to maintain the integrity of software and service items and support delivery of effective services to clients. You’ll manage licensing agreements and user access, whilst monitoring utilisation and adherence to processes. You’ll apply changes to software assets and structures, conducting analysis and audits to maintain quality, whilst seeking continuous improvement opportunities. This role will give you exposure to industry recognised ITIL processes with support from experienced colleagues.


Business Administration Apprentice

With a wide variety of duties, this role will give you an excellent grounding in business administration. You’ll be monitoring complex management information queues and completing key progress reports for the management team. You’ll also populate and manage databases and analyse data against key customer criteria to ensure targets are met.  In this fast-paced environment you’ll develop your organisational and communication skills to become a credit to any team.

Business Analyst Apprentice

Working as part of a team delivering business reports, in-depth analysis, and efficiency recommendations, you’ll be perfectly placed to learn how different teams in a large organisation operate and interact. You’ll assist in the production of data and new business intelligence reports, investigate workflow trends and resolve any issues that may arise.  You’ll develop your analytic and communications skills, and your work will give you exposure to people at all levels across the business.

Data Analyst Apprentice

Part of a team of data analysts, you’ll learn the procedures and processes that make up the art of office administration. You’ll develop the MS Office skills you’ll need to organise and support the office – assisting with reports, compiling spreadsheets and capturing data. Your communication skills will flourish dealing with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders every day, by phone, email, and face to face, and your attention to detail will be honed by the demands of a busy, compliant office.

Scheduling Team Apprentice

You’ll build a range of administrative and customer service skills in a busy and fast-paced environment. As part of the scheduling team, you’ll be responsible for scheduling customer appointments in line with company policies and procedures. You’ll also help to manage effective utilisation of internal team resources. Or you could be acting as administrative support to colleagues, ensuring all administrative preparation is in place for customer appointments. Working with internal and external customers, you’ll improve your organisation and communications skills to become a credit to any team.

Service Delivery Apprentice

As part of our team focussed on improving delivery of our services to our clients, you’ll develop a thorough understanding of our services, supplying organisational and administrative support, ensuring incoming queries are swiftly dealt with and office systems maintained. Being in daily contact with a range of contacts inside and outside the business will strengthen your communication and soft skills and the wide variety of tasks you’ll undertake will require and reward your initiative and flexibility.
