Atos names its ‘Apprentice of the Year’ Kieran Moran from Runcorn scoops top prize

Atos, an international leader in digital services, has awarded one of its young apprentices the accolade of Apprentice of the Year at a recent awards ceremony.

Kieran Moran, a computer programmer from Runcorn, was presented with the top accolade of Apprentice of the Year at a ceremony held at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

The Atos Apprentice End of Programme Awards, celebrates and recognises the achievements of both the Atos’ advanced and higher level apprentices who have worked hard to complete their apprenticeship scheme over the course of last year.

Kieran was recognised for his maturity and professionalism towards his role as well as demonstrating a high level of enthusiasm and influence for an individual at the start of their career.

Kieran, who decided to undertake an apprenticeship rather than attend university, said: “I was really taken aback to have won and to be recognised out of all the other apprentices this year is amazing.

“I’ve really enjoyed working and learning plus getting the chance to come up with ideas and create innovative new processes. It has been so satisfying to see the systems I’ve worked with being used by our customers and to know that they are improving the business.

“By joining the Atos apprenticeship programme, I knew it would be a great first step on the career ladder with excellent opportunities. The experience I have gained during my apprenticeship has been invaluable, it’s truly something you just can’t get by going to university.”

The awards were based on the Atos’ seven corporate values: accountability, trust, operational competitiveness, service, innovation, social wellbeing and excellence.  All entries for the awards were judged by Atos CEO for UK and Ireland, Ursula Morgenstern.  The event was hosted by Damien Shevlin, UK HR Director for Operations and Adrian Gregory, Senior Vice President, Public Sector UK & Ireland was the guest speaker, sharing with the apprentices his own career experiences and tips for the future.

Paul Omar, Service Delivery Manager, for Atos in the Public Sector said: “Kieran has been a model apprentice and has adapted very well to the workplace demonstrating maturity and professionalism; he brings a fresh perspective to business activities and shows that youth is no barrier to having impact and influence in the workplace”.

Steve Sutton, Senior Vice President for the Systems Integration Global Practice commented, “I want to congratulate all of the apprentices, the nominations we received this year were just a small representation of the wealth of all their achievements over the apprenticeship programme and clearly shows us that they are the future of Atos.”

This marked the second time that Atos has celebrated its young talented apprentices since the launch of its Apprenticeship Programme in 2012.

Atos runs a series of apprenticeship schemes including specialist areas such as IT Systems & Hardware, Software Development, Project Management and Cyber Security.
