The XX World University Games were held in Palma de Majorca, Spain in July 1999, over 10 days. The World University Games, which are held every two years, are renowned as one of the most important international sporting events. Many Olympic athletes start their careers participating in the World University Games. The Games also mirror many aspects of the Olympic Games: an Olympic village, a mascot, sports conferences, cultural festivals, and magnificent opening and closing ceremonies. The 1999 Games included: athletics, tennis, basketball, football, fencing, gymnastics, swimming, diving, water polo, volleyball, sailing and judo.
This was the third time Atos Origin had worked for the World University Games, after the Sheffield Games in 1991 and the Sicily Games in 1997.

- Games Management Systems: Accreditation and Volunteer Management (Staff Information System)
- Results Management System and services, with provision of competition schedules, start lists, official results and other Games statistics to the media, Games Family, television viewers and the general public. This included the provision of the commentators' information system.
