Hamburger Sparkasse entrusts Atos Origin with the processing of its new co-branded card
Atos Worldline, an Atos Origin Company, has been selected by Hamburger Sparkasse (Haspa) and the chemists Iwan Budnikowsky (Budni) to ensure the card processing of their new co-branded Budni Cash Card. This new Visa card provides, in addition to the benefits of a traditional debit card, a worldwide payment option based on the Atos Worldline card management system.
The Budni card project was completed in less than six months – including designing the necessary flexible process and parameter controls. Unlike conventional credit cards, transactions made using the Budni Cash Card are debited immediately. Thanks to these daily balance adjustments, card holders have a comprehensive view of their own spending.
“With the Budni Cash Card we have successfully created our first co-branded credit card in a very short time frame, benefiting from the extensive expertise of Atos Worldline”, says Martin Englert, Haspa Budni Cash Card Project Manager.
The new Budni Cash cards will be issued as an add-on to the 790,000 straightforward Budni debit cards already in circulation, thus providing an above average potential for growth. By taking advantage of Atos Worldline proven expertise and experience in co-branding, Budni customers are being offered an even more attractive product. At the same time, cash payments may be reduced.
With Haspa as a new client, Atos Worldline successfully expands its current processing business in the banking sector. “By extending our card management system and co-branding services for several years we have been meeting individual customer requirements. We see this new partnership with Haspa as a breakthrough. It demonstrates our extensive co-branding expertise and that we can rely on it at all times to develop tailor-made cutting-edge solutions”, says Thomas Maaß, Director of Banking & Finance for Atos Worldline in Germany.
Hamburger Sparkasse AG (Haspa) is the leading bank in the Hamburg metropolitan region. It provides a comprehensive range of private and commercial financial services. Originally established as a savings bank for “less well off citizens“, over the course of its 180 year history it has become a high street bank for all Hamburg’s residents. Every second inhabitant and half of all medium sized companies lying within a 50-kilometre radius of the Alster Lake is a Haspa customer. With around 5,300 employees and more than 450 trainees, Haspa is one of the largest employers and training organisations in the city.
