The UN Global Compact

Following the publication of its first ever Corporate Responsibility Report 2009, Atos has taken the step of committing to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

Thierry Breton, Chairman and CEO of Atos signed this high-level strategic policy initiative which is for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with the ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environment protection and anti-corruption.

The UN Global Compact has two objectives:

  • Mainstreaming the ten principles in business activities around the world

  • Catalyzing actions in support of broader UN goals, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

This ever-increasing understanding is reflected in the growth of the Global Compact, which today stands as the largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative in the world — with over 7,700 corporate participants and stakeholders from over 130 countries.

By partnering with companies in this way, and leveraging the expertise and capacities of a range of other stakeholders, the Global Compact seeks to embed markets and societies with universal principles and values for the benefit of all.

Atos is committed to making the Global Compact and its ten principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations and to engaging in collaborative projects which advance the broader goals of the United Nations.

Atos will embody the Global Compact’s principles by implementing a series of actions that will be reported in our next Corporate Responsibility Report for 2010.
