Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH and Atos Origin, a leading international IT services company, have agreed to maintain their existing IT outsourcing contract until at least December 2012.
Atos Origin took over management of the IT infrastructure and services for KarstadtQuelle in October 2004. Since then, the IT services provider has been responsible for running the entire IT infrastructure including its data centres, network, desktops and applications management.
As part of the outsourcing arrangement, around 900 employees transferred to Atos Origin. “A perfectly functioning IT infrastructure forms the basis for a smooth business operation. This is why we are extending the contract with Atos Origin until at least 2012,” says Ludger Banse, CIO of Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH.
When Arcandor, the former parent company of Karstadt, became insolvent, Atos Origin continued to work with Karstadt and agreed in principle to a new contract. The new investor has now confirmed this contract.
